FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

*Click here for full grant requirements*

Q: I don’t live in the counties you serve—can I still apply?
Unfortunately, no. Due to limited funding and the high number of applications we receive, we can only consider applicants who reside in the 22 Central Texas counties we serve: Bastrop, Bell, Bexar, Blanco, Burnet, Caldwell, Comal, Coryell, Fayette, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, Lampasas, Lee, Llano, McLennan, Milam, Travis, and Williamson.

Q: Will you be expanding to cover the entire state of Texas?
No. Our focus remains on Central Texas, though expanding statewide may be something we consider in the future.

Q: Can I apply as a single individual?
Yes! We welcome applications from both individuals and couples.

Q: Do I need to be a U.S. citizen?
Applicants must be permanent U.S. residents and must receive treatment in the United States from a Board-Certified Reproductive Endocrinologist at an accredited fertility facility.

Q: Do you give grants to people who already have children?
Our mission focuses on helping those with primary infertility—meaning no living children. Priority is given to applicants who meet this criterion.

Q: Is there an age restriction to apply?
While we do not have a hard age cutoff, priority is given to applicants under the age of 40 due to the natural decline in ovarian reserve.

Q: I’ve had a previous IVF cycle. Can I still apply?
Yes, although priority is given to applicants who have not previously undergone IVF.

Q: Can I apply for this FFOTX grant if I’ve already received a grant from another nonprofit?
Yes! We encourage you to apply for as many fertility grants as possible. Our grant may not cover the entire cost of IVF, so securing additional support is a smart and encouraged approach.

Application Process

Q: How often are grants awarded?
We award grants twice per year:

  • Summer Cycle: Application opens January 1 – Closes July 31
Finalists interviews and grants awards in September
  • Winter Cycle: Application opens August 1 – Closes December 31
Finalists interviews and grants awards in February

Q: What is the application process like?

Once the online application period closes, our board carefully reviews all submissions based on financial need, medical circumstances, and available funding. Finalists will be contacted and invited to a 45-minute in-person interview in Austin, TX, to discuss their treatment plan and financial readiness. Interviews take place in September (for Summer applicants) and February (for Winter applicants).

Q: When can I expect to hear back about my application?
Applicants selected as finalists will be contacted for interviews approximately one month after the application deadline.

Q: What does the interview process involve?
The interview is a 45-minute, in-person meeting in Austin, TX. We’ll review your prescribed treatment plan, financial readiness, and address any outstanding questions related to your application.

Q: Can I reapply if I’m not selected?
Absolutely. We encourage applicants to reapply in future grant cycles if not selected this round.

Q: I need IVF funds urgently—can I get a decision before the deadline?
To ensure  fairness for all applicants, we follow a set application and review timeline and cannot make early decisions.

Funding Details

Q: How much are the grants and how are award amounts decided?
Grants are awarded up to $10,000, and the exact amount depends on your treatment plan, financial need, and the funds available at the time of award.

Q: How are the funds paid out?
We pay your fertility clinic directly, not the applicant, to ensure funds are applied appropriately toward your treatment.

Q: What can I use the funds for?
Grant funds may be used for IVF cycle costs billed by your clinic (such as labs, procedures, etc.).
They cannot be used for physician fees, and the grant may not cover the entire cost of treatment. Please ensure you are financially prepared to cover any remaining costs.

Q: I’ve already paid for some IVF expenses—can grant funds reimburse me?
Unfortunately, no. Grant funds cannot be used retroactively.

Q: How long do I have to use the funds?
You have up to one year from the date of award to begin using your grant funds.

Other Questions

Q: Do you accept unused IVF medications as donations?
Our mission is focused exclusively on grant funding. We do not accept or distribute medications. Please check with your medical provide.
